Christmas 2008

We spent Christmas with our Coleman family, Dada, Nana, Auntie Eileen and Uncle Marco. We went snowshoeing up to the source of Nakusp hot springs, went for a soak in the Nakusp hot springs, ate lots of food, went cross country skiing, ate more food and more food again. So much fun!

Fundoo's and Arya's Solstice party

The weekend before Christmas was spent with friends in Kelowna. We left Nakusp at a chilly - 18 degrees thinking that it was too cold to be outside and it would be a long weekend if we had to spend it inside. Plus we had friends who we wanted to see. Getting into the Okanagan, it was - 24 degrees. I guess due to the cold air and warm water these cyclones were formed over Kalamalka lake.

We were able to see many friends at Aubin and Tiffany's Fun doo! Here's a picture of Papa Kyle with Alexa and Papa Wes with Rowan. Cute! Alexa and Rowan were born 2 weeks apart.

On Sunday we celebrated the winter solstice with the celebration of Arya's birth! The boys went snowshoeing and the girls did the baby shower. Picture of Arya Tara at 3 weeks old.

Talking at 3 months

So, over a month ago now Rowan started talking up a storm. One day when Nana was over we took a video of her gabbing away. Only now have I sort of figured out how to post it. Here's the link for you to go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hdpg_BqQJA

Or does this make it show up here:

Please, let me know if you can see and hear it. I worked hard to get this up for your enjoyment :)

Teething?

Is Rowan teething?

She's drooling, but has been for almost 2 months now. Hmmm....
She's biting my nipples, ouch, but first did almost 2 months ago...
She likes to put toys, fingers or anything in her mouth... and bite them...
She's does this thing with her lips where she tucks her bottom lips in, for 2 weeks now...This past weekend, Rowan's cheeks were very rosy... no fever though. Phew!
Her gum's appear more white...

But tonight, she was angry. Perhaps she is experiencing teething pain? Poor girl. I guess we'll see.

4 months old

Dear Rowan,

Today you are 4 months old! It's unbelievable how fast the time has gone. You are growing and changing so quickly. Everyday you show us something new, such as bigger and brighter emotions, new jumping styles in your jolly jumper, or yesterday for the first time you rolled over from your back to your front.
You are grasping toys with your hands now, pulling on momma's hair, pappa's chest hair too (ouch!), and you've even figured out how fun it is to pet the dogs and the cat.

You have figured out that you have feet too.

You were grabbing them this morning showing off your flexibility. You love standing up and showing us how strong your legs are getting. It did not take you long to figure out how to get some good air in the jolly jumper. After about 5 times, you graduated from a dangling foot to a full on ballet style of jumping.
(Pictures: Rowan and Grey. Rowan rolled over at her Roots of Empathy class yesterday. It was so exciting for all the kids to see a milestone! One of the students putting a striped black and white sock on Rowan to observe if Rowan notices her feet yet. She noticed! Ballerina Jumper!)

Everyday you wake up talking away with the sheets, telling so many stories until momma finally wakes up and gets up. You are such a fun baby to wake up to. You just can't stop smiling for at least the first hour you are awake! You are becoming somewhat predictable too. After about an hour and a half of being awake in the morning you are ready for a nap. It's best if you nap for more than an hour, even better if it's two hours. Then you wake up and are ready for playing, dancing, singing or reading. You love being outside. Every morning, you and momma go and feed the chickens, collect eggs and then proceed for a walk. You are even happy doing this when it is 15 below zero and tucked into many layers of clothes/blankets. You have already gone for your first cross country ski, although when the wind picked up you started to feel the cold. Otherwise you loved it. You always love being in motion. You love your baths, but you hate getting out. You love the local hot springs even more, but not always the drive to get there. You enjoy meeting new people and often give away smiles to them. You also love that cute girl that stares back at you in the mirror. So cute! You are doing so much Rowan, it's impossible to slow you down. You are growing up so fast! You are now just shy of 13 pounds and are around 63 cm long. Your hair is slowly coming in now although we still can't decide what color it will be. In some lights it looks reddish, in other lights it looks blond.
Rowan, We are totally in love with you and with being your momma and poppa. We can't imagine you being anyone else but you. You are so perfect. We are in love with your snuggles, your smiles, your yawns. We love watching you learn and watching you sleep. WE just love you to bits and bits! We can't wait to see what the next 4 months will bring and more.

Love momma and poppa!

Christmas came a bit early

Rowan's wonderful, loving, and talented Tante Leanne sent her a beautiful handmade quilt - made by her! All the way from Japan! It is so incredible! I still can't believe that she made it, so much detail and so beautiful! The fabrics are gorgeous! We put on the cute pink Kimono right away! We couldn't wait until summer. Rowan looks so cute! Thanks Tante Leanne!

Hey, How you doing?

Loving the jolly jumper! Rowan doesn't 'jump' of course, but dangles from her hips and sways around on her tip toes. One more thing to add to our day of fun events!

Do I look like an elf?

Tibetan Baby

Playing with my wrap today so that I could do some cutting and pasting (making cards.) This is the Tibetan carrying method. Pretty neat if you ask me!
