Biker Chick

This weekend we went on a little campout at our local hot springs campground. The weather was perfect! The hot springs were divine! And after having a lot of busy days and weeks lately, it was just nice to hang out.

It was also the perfect setting and the perfect time for Rowan to figure out her big girl bike. Rowan has been eyeing up this bike in the shop for the past year with much anticipation. Although she has tried it out at our house with dirt trails and roads, it wasn't until this weekend that she was able to pedal it all on her own! She is amazing! (we think anyways!) But really it is amazing to watch her learn so quickly! She watches and listens very attentively to all the instructions - where to put the pedal, where to put your feet, figuring out the muscles that you need to use, and don't forget to look ahead and oh yeah... balance! It was neat to see her nature knowledge of hills that I think she learned from skiing this winter. For example, before she figured out the brakes, she would slow down by doing a turn stop which she learned in skiing. This is when you turn so that you start going a bit uphill to stop or slow down.

Rowan started biking on her runner bike when she was 2. This is a bike without pedals and it helps teach the balance skills for biking. We definitely recommend the runner bike for beginning on.

This was our view all weekend!
After about 10 minutes of help from Papa in figuring out how to get going on the bike, she was gone! Every spare second, she was on her bike!

Other times, we hung out in the camper and made funny faces! What a goof! I love this kid!

Oops! Got a little wet while watering her plants so she had to take off her pants, and socks, and shoes.  This was most likely planned out so that she could splash in the puddles and get wet and dirty. Earlier this day, Rowan was quite the girly, girl when visiting her friends. They were being quite the boys and getting all muddy and wet while she stood and watched. I guess she really did want to play in the puddles too but had to do it at her own house.

Spring Chicks

Major excitement at our house this week. Our chicken eggs hatched!! We now have 5 fluffy chicks named Dora, Chicken Little, Superfly, Kateari, and Cricket. It was a huge learning experience for everyone.

After witnessing the hatch 2 days earlier - the chicks are ready to be held. They were pretty excited!

Birthday Party Pics

Well, Fisher is officially a year old! Unfortunately it has been a winter of colds and coughs and flus... rashes and blisters and teething... Needless to say, we didn't have much of a celebration for the big boy's first birthday. We'll have double the fun for his second birthday and make up for it hopefully.

In a small window when we were feeling better, we attended Rowan's friend's 4th birthday party. Thank you Shanon for taking these beautiful pictures.

What a classy little lady!

These two are such great friends! Now that Fisher isn't really much of a baby anymore. Wow, that was fast!

1 year old!! Handsome fella aren't you?

Not walking yet. But so close! Fisher loves standing and walking holding your hands. In fact, just yesterday and today he took a few steps on his own. But he didn't know it - and when he thinks about walking on his own he is very cautious and wants to hold onto something or someone for security.

He's not walking but he can sure get where he wants and FAST!

I guess we did have a teeny tiny party for Fisher, we made an effort anyways. Rowan helped Mama make Fisher's favorite cake - Carrot cake! Yummmy!

Happy Birthday to you!

Getting ready to blow out the candle.

Rowan, can you help blow out Fisher's candle?

Fun times on the driving sled! I think winter will be sticking around a little while longer.

Yah! Faster Leaf! Faster!

Friends!

This is Fisher's stance. He will crawl to where he wants then assume this position. One leg out, one leg tucked under.
