23 Weeks

23 Weeks and Counting! And a new maternity outfit. We had another doctor's appointment last week. Everything is looking good. I'm gaining weight, surprise, surprise. The baby's heartbeat is 136 beats per minute. The results from the ultrasound show no abnormalities. Everything is great. Our next visit will be with our midwife in Nelson in May.


We have attended all of our prenatal classes. We learned a lot and have a lot of information still to go through. We watched videos of births, breastfeeding and infant soothing techniques. Yesterday at our last class we met a new family who described their birthing story as well as other stories. Their baby is 3 months old. Overall, the class was very informative for getting us ready for labor and a baby.


Wes is reading books to my stomach in the evenings and the baby is responding with movements. It's a good chance for the baby to hear Wes' voice after hearing mine all day. Wes can feel some of the movements now, however they are simply movements and go definite kicks or elbows yet.

Our baby room is starting to look like a cozy place. I'll post pictures of it next time. We have been given a crib and set it up. Plus a dresser that we already had and a shelving unit.


The dogs are curious about the babies room and the crib. When they sniffed the room, I told them that it was for the baby in my stomach and pointed to it. They seem to get it, as if they already know what's going on.


Spring is here. The snow is melting fast. This weekend has been glorious with 20 degree sunshine. We are building a chicken coop and doing some spring clean up/gardening. Have a great weekend.
